January 20, 2019
Wow, it is hard to believe we are halfway through January already! Didn't it just feel like the Holiday's? I can say this much, my bank account is still feeling the effects BUT that is here nor there.
While January can, typically, be such a BLAH month, this year, I have a lot on my plate to keep me busy. One of the things that I absolutely love, though, is the fact that Baltimore RESTAURANT WEEK is not only "fast approaching" but it is HERE! And, in case you need the "411" and live in the "410," Baltimore County Restaurant Week started on Friday, January 18th and goes through Saturday, February 2nd!
While this is becoming a "thing" in most cities, I have found that a lot of places have been keeping a Prix Fix menu all year around. I know a lot of people who dig that BUT I prefer indulging in this type of eating a couple times of year. Most of the time, I only like 1 of the 3 courses being offered anyway.
Okay, seriously, I am not discouraging you from trying out Restaurant Week; in fact, I enjoy picking out a new place, or one that I rarely frequent, and taking a peek at their favorites being showcased! This year, I wanted to share with you one of the areas most beloved and iconic restaurants for the past 60 years - The Milton Inn. A true gem in Baltimore and one that needs to be on your restaurant bucket list. Check out the video I recently did capturing all the fabulousness of this amazing establishment!
Rich in history, The Milton Inn, located in Sparks, MD - in BEAUTIFUL rural Baltimore County - has been known for its exceptional food and authentic, colonial ambience since its opening back in the 1940's. From their popular "Main Dining" and "Hearth Rooms," to their 1740's lounge and terrace, the Milton Inn has been host to guests celebrating milestones, engagements, private events, parties, and so much more!
Over the last 5 years, with the opening of their 1740's bar and lounge, guests can dine in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere with getting all the nostalgia and high-quality service the restaurant has been known for since its conception. Whether it's a Happy Hour after work, a get together with family, friends, or your significant other ANY day of the week, their cocktail and wine list is one of the best in Baltimore, and their small plate menu ranges from hummus and shrimp cocktail, to beef short ribs and crab cakes!
A win for all palettes, prices ranges, and even dress codes too!
Speaking of dress code...I had a business meeting, post-training clients, and I had a lovely lunch at their establishment in my athleisure-wear. Yes, a 3-piece suit is NOT a necessity AND, to be perfectly honest, the prices are comparable to most of the restaurants in the area. Again, a 3-piece suit is NOT required AND no sticker shock. Trust me! Plus, I loved feeling like I was stepping back in time...and with it being SUPER chilly too, the coziness of their dining room was PERFECT.
Brian Boston, Executive Chef & Proprietor of the restaurant since 1997, has many distinguished honors, including being named 2011 Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Maryland. He, continues, to exceed his guests expectations, nightly, with a refined ambiance, a menu of classical decadence, and an amazing wine cellar featuring over 200 handpicked selections.
Yes, lets chat about the wine! The sommelier, Mollie McConnell, was gracious enough to give me a tour of her "office," and, well, needless to say, I was in Heaven! You can get a the full peek in my video! With a wine menu changing every 2 weeks, even the wine aficionado's in your life will be able to find a bottle from a varietal and region of their liking.
Trust me, I found many.
Ohh, and, before I get into all of the yumminess that is part of this year's Restaurant Week, I want to share you something NEW to The Milton Inn experience - a four course tasting menu that is reasonably priced and gives a wide selection of menu favorites to choose from! Now, I know I can get down with that...and I know you can too!
