Sunday Funday: Building a "Fit4You" Cheese & Charcuterie Board!

How is it December 1st already? Seriously, I feel it was just the Summer and, now, it is 3 1/2 weeks until Christmas! Ahh! This has always been my favorite time of year BUT, for some reason, I cannot seem to get my "merry" on. I have been trying, and I still think it will happen, but it is just feeling downright tough. Does this resonate at all with you?

Okay, let's talk about something that I love doing, and is great for this time of year (and, really, anytime of the year)...building a fabulous cheese & charcuterie board. It has become one of my favorite things to do for not only my own family parties BUT for others as well. Yes, I am for hire, LOL. In fact, here is a peek at one I put together for a friend's pre-Thanksgiving dinner.  


What I love about building these boards is that you can be ridiculously creative! No 2 boards are ever the same, even if you have the same meats & cheeses, and you can craft it to FIT the season.

Take for example, here is what I used for this "Turkey Day" awesomeness...

- 1 Cheddar

- 2 Types of Gouda (cubed)

- 1 Blue Cheese

- 1 Prosciutto 

- 1 Salami with Pistachio

- Fresh Strawberries & Oranges

- Figs

- Carr's & Raincoat Crisp Crackers

- Jam

- Grainy Mustard

- Honey

- Fresh Flowers & Pine Cones

Again, there is no right or wrong with what you use! Pick what you like, and what would be appealing to your guests. Generally, I will pick 2 meats and 3 cheeses, or 3 meats and 2 cheeses but it really just depends. The accoutrements will vary as well and, again, it is all dependent on my mood, the season, and what guests would like.
